Photo: Mink Near the Manistee Riverwalk, May 1, 2011
It was an absolutely gorgeous May Day morning, so Adam and I decided to grab a couple of donuts and come coffee and take an early morning stroll down the Riverwalk. We started at First Street Beach, and as we were approaching the beginning of the Riverwalk I saw something move in my peripheral vision. At first I thought it was a squirrel, but then I remembered seeing a mink a few times last year in the same area so we decided to investigate further. Sure enough, it was a mink! (I just love weasels!)
We stood there staring at it as it stared at us for a minute or two as I slowly reached into my purse to grab my camera. I just managed to squeeze off a shot before he scampered away and hid in some rocks. It was only 7:00 AM, but the encounter totally made my day!
